Our Community

At Little Oaks, life is about more than care — it’s about community, companionship and feeling truly at home.

We are proud of the warm and friendly community we have created, built on genuine friendships and shared moments. We encourage residents and their families to be part of everyday life in the home — whether that’s reading the morning papers together, enjoying a chat, or joining in with our much-loved “Word of the Day” and other planned activities.

Morning coffee and afternoon teas are perfect times to come together, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company. We encourage and always welcome family visits.
Birthdays and special occasions are celebrated with love, and throughout the year we host events that bring everyone together — from our summer garden party, full of good food, music, and laughter, to the festive warmth of our Christmas gathering.

At Little Oaks, you’re not just part of a care home — you’re part of our family.

Rest and relax

We have a range of bright and airy communal spaces for residents and their families to enjoy, including two comfortable lounges, a sunny conservatory, and two inviting dining rooms. Residents and family can also relax on our terrace, which overlooks the beautifully landscaped gardens.

Activities

At Little Oaks, we offer a wide variety of activities each week, planned by our dedicated Activities Coordinator Sam. Residents are actively consulted to ensure the programme reflects their interests and preferences.

Our weekly schedule includes favourites like Bingo and “Play Your Cards Right,” as well as special sessions such as Wellbeing Wednesdays, where residents enjoy relaxing foot soaks, hand massages, and soft music.

Residents can also take part in weekly armchair exercises, music and movement sessions, or have their hair done by the visiting hairdressers. We offer trips to the local garden centre, and throughout the year we host seasonal activities such as Animal visits in the spring, a summer Beach Day with a Punch and Judy show, fish & chips and ice creams, then in the winter our festive Christmas panto.

Every activity is an opportunity for residents to connect, have fun, and truly feel part of the Little Oaks community.

Home cooked meals

We believe good food to be a vital element of the service and all our meals are freshly prepared and cooked on the premises from quality, seasonal ingredients by our chef. Residents are always offered a choice of meals from a changing menu which are enjoyed in the dining rooms, conservatory or outside on the terrace in the warmer months.

As a treat the residents occasionally enjoy fish and chips from our local fish and chip shop.

A resident's story

Watch our Video

Little Oaks Residential Home provided a very welcoming environment for my mother's visit for a respite break. The ethos of providing a home-from-home experience was well demonstrated by the caring staff who focused on my mother's individual needs. All her visitors were also appreciative of the welcome they received, which all helped to provide a positive experience for their visit. The spacious room enabled those visits to take place in a quiet environment. My mother was able to relax in the safe caring setting which enabled the stay to be a positive experience.
